Privacy Policy

Effective: 2026-09-24. This policy applies to the AtlasPaper iOS app. It is separate from the askdratlas.com website privacy notice and from the Dr Atlas app policy. For questions or data requests, contact contact@askdratlas.com.

What the app processes

When you use AtlasPaper, it processes papers and links you choose to import, extracted PDF text, paper titles and metadata, AI summaries, questions and chat messages, flashcards, audio-brief text, and live voice discussion content. Please do not import material that identifies another person, such as a patient name, date of birth, record number, or face in an image. Anonymise reports and images before attaching them.

The app also processes technical and usage information needed to operate and improve the service, including an anonymous Firebase account identifier, app interactions, device and diagnostic information, crash reports, subscription status, and purchase-related identifiers. Where allowed by your device settings and Apple's permission process, attribution identifiers may be used for measurement.

How information is used

AtlasPaper uses submitted content to create summaries, answer questions, make flashcards and audio briefs, and support live voice discussion. It uses account, usage, and diagnostic information to run the app, manage access, measure feature use, fix errors, and prevent misuse. It does not provide medical diagnosis or treatment advice.

Where content goes

Imported paper content and the context needed for an AI feature are sent to Google Firebase and Vertex AI to generate the requested output. Live discussion sends voice input and paper context to the AI service and receives generated audio. Audio-brief generation sends summary text through a Firebase Cloud Function to Google's text-to-speech service. Generated audio is cached in Google Cloud Storage and delivered through a time-limited signed link. A signed link expiring does not itself delete the cached audio object.

AtlasPaper uses Firebase Authentication, Remote Config, Analytics, and Crashlytics for account, configuration, measurement, and diagnostics. RevenueCat processes subscription status and purchase events; Apple handles App Store billing. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies: Google Firebase, Google Cloud, RevenueCat, and Apple.

Storage and retention

The app keeps your imported PDFs, summaries, saved chats, flashcards, and downloaded audio on your device until you remove them or use “Delete All Data” in Settings. That control deletes local app data; it does not cancel a subscription or automatically erase records held by outside providers. Cloud-generated audio may remain in the service cache after a local deletion. Provider logs, diagnostics, subscription records, and cached files may be retained under the applicable provider policies or legal requirements.

For help with a request concerning service-side information, contact contact@askdratlas.com. Include enough information to locate the relevant account or request, but do not email medical records or other sensitive documents. Some records may need to be retained for security, billing, or legal reasons; we will explain any limits that apply.

Your choices

You can decline to import a paper or use an AI feature. You can delete local content in the app, manage Apple's tracking permission in iOS Settings, manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account, and contact us about privacy questions or data requests. Uninstalling the app stops future use on that device but is not a request to delete provider-held data.

Security and changes

We use the security controls of the app platform and service providers, including Firebase App Check for supported requests. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. We may update this policy as the app changes and will change the effective date above. We will provide any additional notice or choice required by applicable law.
